PPAI members got a closer look Thursday at the methodology, findings and implications behind the Association’s new global economic impact study of branded merchandise.

In a webinar hosted live on the Association’s LinkedIn account and now available to watch on demand, PPAI President and CEO Drew Holmgreen and Market Economist and Research & Public Affairs Lead Alok Bhat were joined by Oxford Economics Associate Director Alice Gambarin and Economist Elliot Heaton to walk through the research and answer questions from members.

The discussion expanded on findings released earlier this week, including Oxford Economics’ estimate that branded merchandise supported $472.3 billion in global GDP in 2025, along with 11.9 million jobs and $141.3 billion in tax revenues worldwide.

The panel also addressed how Oxford Economics defined and measured the sector, why the study looks beyond traditional distributor sales figures and how licensed merchandise fits within the broader branded merchandise marketplace.

For PPAI, the research is intended to provide the industry with a more complete, independent benchmark for communicating its global scale and economic relevance.
