PPAI General Counsel Cory Halliburton recently completed a 50-mile GoRuck Star Course in Washington, D.C., with his team of four finishing first out of about 100 participants which included military, ex-military and civilian teams and individual participants.
The 50-mile, 15-hour event saw participants run from Capitol Hill, into Arlington and Alexandria, Virginia, over to Bethesda, Maryland, back past the U.S. Supreme Court and to the finish near the Capitol. With required weights, plus water, food and other items, Halliburton’s pack weighed 46 pounds at the start of the race and finished at 40 pounds.
“This was one of the toughest physical and mental challenges of my career,” says Halliburton. “My team was amazing, and we kept a steady and brisk cadence through all 50 miles and 2,500 feet of elevation. The retired Special Forces event coordinators were ecstatic upon our team’s early finish, and their humbled and genuine congratulations justified every ruck-step of the arduous journey.”
