Branded merchandise has been integral to President Donald Trump’s image ever since he debuted the now unmistakable “Make America Great Again” red ballcaps. His presidential campaigns were characterized by both official and homemade merch. Now, with his final term almost halfway over, the fever is dying down.
Two independently owned Trump-themed stores have closed so far this year, according to media reports.
The first closure was of The Trump Store in Bensalem, Pennsylvania, after six years in business. The shop received national attention during the 2024 election and became a local landmark for Trump supporters. Mike Domanico, owner of the store, told Newsweek that it was originally meant to be a pop-up during the election.
The most recent closure was the Tennessee Trump Store along Interstate 40 near Knoxville, Tennessee. The store opened in April 2024 and had become famous for its large signage and an outhouse which was advertised as the “Democrat Superstore.” According to The Independent, the closure was due to owner William Hays’ retirement; however, Hays clarified that he wasn’t retiring and that the closure is a result of a decline in sales.
There are several Trump stores still open, including in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, and North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Of course, official merchandise is sold at the flagship Trump store inside Trump Tower in New York.

“I went from almost losing everything to being a part of this amazing campaign,” Mahfouz told PPAI Media in 2025. “We’ve had a front row seat to history. Last year, I purchased my own 40,000 square foot building and was able to lay out all of the equipment and everything the way I wanted it.”
