People love working at Pro Towels (PPAI 112755, Gold), PPAI 100’s No. 51 supplier.

The proof is in the data: The Pittsburgh-based textiles specialist has secured High Marks in Employee Happiness in every PPAI 100 since the ranking’s inception in 2023.

  • Scoring for Employee Happiness is devoted to employee turnover rate and inclusion in PPAI’s Greatest Companies To Work For program (and similar workplace honors).
  • The 2026 edition of PPAI’s Greatest Companies To Work For will be released later this month.

Doing the small things that show genuine appreciation makes a big impact.”

A Little Appreciation Goes A Long Way

While maintaining such a consistent level of employee satisfaction is impressive, Melissa Mason, vice president of client partnerships at Pro Towels, suggests the method for achieving so is surprisingly simple.

“Doing the small things that show genuine appreciation makes a big impact,” says Mason, who is also the head of HR at the supplier’s Abbeville, South Carolina-based facility where the majority of its employees work.

One way Pro Towels displays genuine appreciation is by having a themed, companywide event each month. In July, the firm treated its 70 employees to a barbecue celebration, and this month it will host its annual summer bash, where employees can bring their families for games, outdoor activities, prizes and food.

Outside of the monthly events, Pro Towels prioritizes work-life balance by providing numerous benefits and perks. “We offer a generous vacation package along with PTO and sick days, giving employees the flexibility they need,” Mason says. These benefits make it easier for employees to thrive both personally and professionally, adds Mason, who has worked at the company for nearly 15 years.

While having the right benefits can be a deal-breaker for prospective and current employees, it’s also important that they enjoy spending time with the people they see daily.

Cameron Moss

Marketing Director, Pro Towels

“From my personal experience, what sets Pro Towels apart is the cooperative attitude throughout the company,” says Cameron Moss, marketing director at Pro Towels. Everyone treats one another as co-workers, not subordinates, which fosters a culture where people genuinely want each other to succeed, Moss adds.

That sense of shared purpose appears to be a key ingredient in Pro Towels’ ability to retain employees year after year. Mason says the company’s culture works because appreciation, flexibility and teamwork are regarded as expectations.

“When our team sees that we’re all in this together and that everyone is stepping up to move the work forward, it builds trust, momentum and a culture where people feel valued,” Mason says.
