After the Knicks’ historic win, their first championship in 53 years, New York City held a massive parade on June 18. Along the parade route, orange and blue Knicks-themed trash bins were stationed to keep the city clean. One such bin was emptied and stolen by a former JPMorgan Chase & Co. executive in a video that went viral.
Despite this litterbug, the story now has a happy ending.
The New York City Department of Sanitation has announced a giveaway where five lucky New Yorkers can win their very own Knicks-branded trash bin. The new bins are in the team’s signature orange and blue, measuring 28 inches tall and weighing about 30 pounds.
On the DSNY’s giveaway page, the department pokes fun at the infamous vandal saying, “Stealing is a technical foul – but entering this drawing to win a full-sized litter basket is a clean win for all New Yorkers.” Another slogan includes, “No need to Knick a bin!”
Those hoping to win have until 5 p.m. on July 3 to submit an application. Unlucky entrants can purchase an officially licensed smaller version of the branded trash bin from Only NY for $168. Proceeds from these bins will directly benefit the City of New York.

While the NBA season might be over, Knicks fever won’t be leaving the city anytime soon. The DSNY trash bin collab isn’t the only one making waves. A stylish polo from Malbon and a puffer jacket from Off Season are among the more high-end options.
The 2026-2027 NBA season will start in October, ushering in a new wave of branded merchandise. Until then, NYC will continue to celebrate the Knicks, and five lucky winners will have a special piece of memorabilia to remember the team’s historic win.
