PromoCorner is your parents’ company. What is your first memory of it?
It really wasn’t until 2020, when I came on part-time while I was in college and actually kind of realized what it was. I had an idea of what the promo industry was – I had helped out when I was growing up, so I knew promo. But this was really my first full dive into actually operating within a company, and I learned what a service provider was to the industry. I learned so much about marketing to the industry, how suppliers and distributors interact with each other, what they’re looking for from each other and how those relationships form.
What has been the evolution of working with your parents?
It started off as a challenge learning when we were working and when were weren’t, because when I first started working for my parents, it was during Covid, and I was living at the house with them still. We were spending all day together at work and then all day together at home, and nobody was leaving or going anywhere, so that made for an interesting dynamic. After the world opened back up and I ended up moving out, I think the relationship just naturally got a lot easier to balance.
You’re a regular at PPAI educational events and conferences. Do you feel a responsibility to evolve and grow?
Definitely, and I also want to be really mindful that I don’t stop consuming it, either. I want to really continue to keep consuming content and sharing it and using what I’ve learned with the other people at my company and in the industry to keep myself growing and the people around me growing.
Have you learned any secrets to great networking along the way?
I think I just love to chat. I like to have a good time, and sometimes it’s like a little vacation, and I get to go see my industry friends. So, I’m just trying to have the best time possible, and I think that if I project that energy, hopefully it’s coming back in and people remember me, and we have a relationship going forward.
