With fall in full swing, now’s an ideal time to reset and refocus before the whirlwind of the holiday season begins. That might mean cleaning up your CRM or getting into a steady rhythm with cold calls. You may want to update your sales deck or block off time each week for prospect follow-ups.
Writer JiJi Lee says people often wait until the end of the year to start reflecting on goals and thinking about new ones. But that means missing out on the valuable time you have right now. Rather than waiting, Lee recommends using the fall season to give yourself a final push on your goals or a head start on next year’s goals. In this issue of PromoPro Daily, we share her tips on how to do a reset for fall.
- Make headway on your current goals. Lee advises thinking about the goals you want to accomplish by the end of the year. Then, make a list of the things you do every day that get you closer to your goals. Make sure you’re doing something in October and November that help you make progress.
- Select goals you want to pursue in the new year. What would you like to accomplish in 2026? It’s not too soon to start thinking about it. Lee says whether you want to expand your professional network, read more books or learn a new language, write down your goals. This way, she says you’ll have easy access to them and you can start mapping out ideas for working on your goals.
- Refresh your office supplies. With back-to-school season behind us, take some time to restock or refresh your office supplies and tools. For example, Lee likes to get a fresh array of pens that make everyday writing feel more delightful. You might want a new notebook or pencil cup. Look for what inspires you and sparks joy.
- Prepare your office for fall. Bring a touch of autumn to your workspace with seasonal accents like an essential oil diffuser or candle in seasonal scents. You might also want to take some time to declutter and organize your desk. The goal is to make your space feel cozy and refreshed, whether you work in the office or remotely.
- Spend time in nature. Lee recommends taking advantage of fall’s cooler weather and spending more time outside. Take a walk around your office building at lunch or go for a walk after work to decompress. Take in the fall experience where you live, Lee says. Maybe it’s stunning fall foliage or the crunch of leaves beneath your feet. These sensorial moments help you appreciate the season’s little pleasures.
- Carve out time to reflect on the past year. Fall puts many people in a more introspective mood. If you’re feeling contemplative, Lee recommends grabbing a journal and writing about what challenges you’ve faced and how you’ve overcome them or how you’re working through them. You could also think about deals that closed smoothly compared to those that were tougher or how you can balance outreach with relationship building.
Making small resets now can help you stay sharp and head into the end of the year with confidence. Whether it’s blocking off dedicated reflection time or updating a few office items for the season, you can move into the holidays feeling more organized and prepared.
