Beacon Promotions (PPAI 113702), a subsidiary of HPG (PPAI 110772, Platinum), has issued a recall on repackaged promotional M&M’s in 20 states.
The recalled products contain undeclared milk, soy and peanuts, posing a risk to anyone with allergies to those ingredients, according to an online enforcement report from the Food and Drug Administration.
- HPG is PPAI 100’s No. 4 supplier.
Beacon initiated the recall on Jan. 26, and the FDA classified it as a Class II recall on Feb. 4, meaning exposure to the products “may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote.”

“During an FDA inspection on January 21, Beacon was informed that the packaging on two of its items, “BB471BG M&M’s Peanut Taster Packet” and “BB458BG M&M’s Plain: Taster Packet,” needed a label indicating that they may contain peanuts,” HPG told PPAI Media.
“Beacon took immediate action and voluntarily sent a formal recall letter to the distributors who had ordered these items. The labeling on the two items included in the recall has been corrected, approved by the FDA and the product is available for purchase again.”
Other suppliers of M&M’s in the branded merch industry aren’t impacted by the recall.
