The board of directors of the Virginia Promotional Products Association (VAPPA) has announced that the regional association will donate $2,000 to the Promotional Products Disaster Recovery Foundation (PPDRF). In addition, the association will match member donations over the next three months up to an additional $1,000. VAPPA’s announcement follows a call to action from PPAI and the Regional Association Council (RAC) to help rebuild the PPDRF.
The PPDRF is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization created by PPAI and RAC to help promotional products industry members and nonmembers get back to business in the wake of a federally declared natural disaster. Since 2011, nearly $53,000 has been distributed to help 33 applicants in need.
“This foundation has helped so many,” says Craig Dickens, VAPPA board president. “Hurricanes Harvey and Maria severely depleted the funds available, so now it’s up to the promotional products community to build them back up so we are prepared to help others in the wake of future disasters that seem inevitable. I am pleased to serve with a board that feels as strongly as I do about this mission. We know our VAPPA members will be equally supportive.”
