Cleveland-based distributor University Tees (PPAI 535935, Standard-Plus) has announced its first acquisition: Santa Monica, California-based distributor Greek House (PPAI 794471).
- University Tees, which works with more than 350 college campuses, was founded in 2003 by Joe Haddad and Nick Dadas while they were attending Miami University.
The acquisition will provide customers with access to a wider selection of apparel, better pricing, faster customer service and greater decoration capabilities, University Tees says.
- The acquisition will also expand the University Tees Campus Manager program, which allows students to become de facto distributors by helping various organizations on college campuses design and order their custom apparel.
- Campus managers can earn up to 12% commission on every order that they close.
“We believe this acquisition brings additional value, capabilities and a larger number of campus managers to better serve our customers,” Haddad says. “Together, we aim to elevate our products and services to continue delivering an amazing custom apparel experience.”
New Opportunities
Greek House has a similar origin story: Co-founders Luke McGurrin and Karthik Shandai launched the business in 2013 while they were students at the University of Florida.
- Since starting Greek House, they have launched three more brands: Threadly, College Thread and Athlete’s Thread, which provides more than 20,000 student athletes with Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) merchandise and jerseys.
“We’re so excited and grateful for this opportunity to bring together two amazing teams in the industry,” McGurrin says. “The alignment and synergies that are created with the two companies joining forces is going to mean new opportunities for customers, students and team members that haven’t existed before.”
