George Kerchner, executive director of the Rechargeable Battery Association (PRBA), is joining the 2016 PPAI Product Responsibility Summit to share his insights and perspectives on shipping lithium-ion batteries. Kerchner’s session at the Summit will explore what goes wrong when something goes wrong shipping batteries, what industry companies can do to mitigate the risk and the rules and regulations that are in play.
Alongside his role at the PRBA, Kerchner is affiliated with the Dangerous Goods Advisory Council; an associate member of the Environmental Law Institute; advisor to the International Civil Aviation Organization, Dangerous Goods Panel; and an observer to the United Nations Subcommittee of Experts on the Transport of Dangerous Goods. He has experience in the environmental law, policy and regulatory fields and focuses on issues affecting the rechargeable battery industries as well as the portable electronics and electric vehicle industries. He conducts hazardous materials/dangerous goods training programs for shippers of lithium metal batteries and lithium ion batteries, portable electronic equipment and electric vehicles.
The 2016 Summit, to be held September 18-20 in National Harbor, Maryland, brings together the experts and expertise to highlight the importance of product responsibility in today’s economy and how it can differentiate businesses from their competition and keep them on the right side of the law.
