Dunkin’ Donuts is recalling approximately 8,300 glass tumblers sold in the company’s stores from September to November 2016. The tumblers were sourced by a distributor through supplier Moderne Glass (PPAI 112536) in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania.
Dunkin’ Donuts has received 19 reports of the tumblers cracking or breaking; no injuries have been reported. Moderne Glass did not manufacture or design the products; rather, it arranged for their production by a reputable glass manufacturer in China, pursuant to the specifications and design it received from the distributor and Dunkin’ Donuts. The tumblers had passed all UL tests and standards required by the distributor and Dunkin’ Donuts.
“It is very important for all to know these custom glass tumblers are not part of the Moderne Glass line and have never been offered to the promotional products industry by us,” says Tom McKnight, owner of Moderne Glass Company. “Moderne Glass has and continues to fully cooperate with the CPSC, the distributor, and Dunkin’ Donuts regarding this situation.”
The tumblers were sold in three styles and each is approximately eight inches tall and three inches in diameter. Two of the styles feature BUT FIRST, DUNKIN on the inside layer of glass with a clear lid. The third style has a black and gray plaid pattern on the inside layer of glass, a black silicone grip with the letters “DD” embossed on it, and a black lid.
Consumers should immediately stop using the tumblers and return them to the Dunkin’ Donuts restaurant where purchased for a full refund. For questions or concerns, email Moderne Glass at gaglobalgroup@mglass.com, or call 724-857-5840.
