This past Saturday, Prospect, Connecticut, distributor Triple Stitch Sportswear donated 200 yard signs to the town and neighboring Wethersfield, to show its support for workers on the frontlines of the coronavirus pandemic. The signs, which carried grateful messages of “Thank You to Our Heroes” and “Keep America Safe and Strong” were available free to residents to post on their lawns.
The company worked with the mayors’ offices in both cities to distribute the signs, which were available one per family on a first-come, first-served basis on the town greens in each community.
“Our medical professionals are fighting a war out there,” says TripleStitch Sportswear co-owner Nick D’Eramo, pictured. “They are working long hours, in harrowing conditions and putting their own lives on the line. We want to show them how much we appreciate them.”
Joe Commendatore, Triple Stitch co‐owner, adds, “We also want to acknowledge all the supply chain workers who are in the hot zones making crucial deliveries of essential products and equipment.”
The pair, who employ 20 people at the nearly 40-year-old distributor company, are working on the logistics of distributing the signs on a national basis and plan to contribute a portion of the proceeds from each sign sold to a national charity. They explain the initiative this way: “People want to show their support. In New York City, they applaud every night. Out here in the suburbs, let’s put up lawn signs that our health-care professionals and heroes can see as they drive into the hospitals, and for the people who make their deliveries each day. It’s a small token of appreciation, but maybe it will help pick them up when they sorely need it.”
