Ahead of the release of its annual confidence index, BizBuySell, an online business-for-sale marketplace, has released a snapshot of where small-business owners’ heads are at in today’s political climate.
BizBuySell reports that small-business owners are wary of an economic recession. It found that 38 percent of today’s small-business owners cite an economic recession as the No. 1 biggest external risk to impact their business, and 36 percent believe it will be here within the next three years.
Not all of the businesses surveyed have recovered from the recent government shutdown. The majority—79 percent—of small-business owners report no changes due to the government shutdown, but of those it negatively impacted, 40 percent have yet to recover. And four percent of those surveyed reported positive changes because of the shutdown.
In regard to immigration, 58 percent of respondents believe a stricter immigration policy will not impact their businesses.
