Today is Giving Tuesday, a national holiday celebrated annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving to encourage charitable giving and volunteerism. It kicks off the holiday giving season and inspires people to collaborate to improve their local communities and give back in impactful ways to the charities and causes they support. Among the thousands of charities and organizations that have joined the #GivingTuesday movement are the Promotional Products Education Foundation (PPEF) and the Kids In Need Foundation (KINF).
PPEF is participating in Giving Tuesday to raise money for college scholarships for those with parents in the promotional products industry. Since 1989, PPEF has awarded more than $1.9 million in college scholarships to 1,013 students. This year it awarded $200,000 to 132 recipients. PPEF’s 2018 Giving Tuesday goal is $10,000, to be used for tomorrow’s leaders in the promotional products industry.
PPAI and PPEF are encouraging industry professionals to show their support for the Foundation with an “unselfie.” Here’s how: On a piece of paper, write why you are supporting PPEF, take an unselfie by holding the paper in front of your face and post it to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or any other social media site to raise awareness for PPEF’s Scholarship Fund. Don’t forget to use the hashtags #givingtuesday and #PPAIunselfie.
KINF is a a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that PPAI has supported since 2007. Staff and volunteers from KINF have been at The PPAI Expo for the past 10 years collecting donated promotional products after the show closes. The donations are used directly by students whose parents cannot afford to purchase school supplies, and by creative educators in underprivileged schools who use them as incentives, rewards and teaching aids.
This year KINF is asking for help to reach its goal of giving 880 students a backpack filled with school supplies. Click here for more information.
