Earlier this week, commonsku held its “skucamp” conference in Brooklyn. The promotional products business service provider calls the events a “community, a think tank, a creative-fest, a jam session and a business bootcamp all rolled into one.”

The event officially kicked off Monday night followed by two full days of speakers including C-level executives from companies such as PCNA, Gemline, Raining Rose, Foxtrot Marketing and many more. The event was held at the Ace Hotel in Brooklyn.

“We were overwhelmed by the degree of transparency these leaders brought to skucamp this year,” says Mark Graham, commonsku’s president and chief brand officer. “For nearly eight hours, the entire room was riveted by the stories and ideas shared by speakers and fellow colleagues. We’re thankful to the community for the encouragement and inspiration they bring that make this industry thrive.”

Mastering the specifics of how technology – be it workflow systems, ecommerce or accounting – can fit with a given promotional products company can enable that company to grow its business without being hampered by the logistics that can come with success. Business service providers like commonsku look to bridge that gap and tailor technology solutions specifically for promotional products companies.

Therefore, skucamp is a valuable event where promo companies of all sizes can learn from each other about tech solutions to problems they may have been facing. It is also an opportunity for commonsku to glean the most recent and relevant problems that promo is facing in order to find solutions within their current or future offerings.

“I always look forward to this event for its fantastic content,” says Lindsey Davis, MAS, PPAI’s Promotional Products Work manager, who attended the event in Brooklyn, as did PPAI VP of Revenue and Business Development Ellen Tucker, CAE. “This year was no different with some brilliant industry minds tackling relevant and important topics. I look forward to using both what I learned and the incredible merch from the event.”

This was the fifth year of the conference. Past skucamps have been held in Palm Springs, California, New Orleans and Pittsburgh.
