Take this opportunity to meet with your members of Congress and be an advocate for the industry!

Step 1: Find out who represents you in Congress using PPAI’s Online Advocacy Tools

Step 2: Go to your MOCs’ websites, learn more about their schedules and find the contact information for their district offices

Step 3: Edit and send this email meeting request   and contact your MOCs’ staffs as soon as possible

Step 4
: Confirm your meeting a week in advance with the MOC’s staff

Step 5: Prepare yourself and your group by reviewing PPAI’s recorded Advocacy at Home webinar.
Develop your elevator speech and review these discussion points:
  1. Promotional Products—A Vibrant, Dynamic Industry
  2. Promotional Products And Independent Contractors
  3. Tax Rates And Promotional Products Businesses

Step 6
: Print copies of the position statements  and this informational piece  to bring to your MOC.

Step 7: Plan to bring promotional products to leave with the MOC and his or her staff. Because of certain laws and regulations on gift giving in government, each item should be less than $10 in value.

Step 8: Meet with your member of Congress. The easiest part of advocacy in the August Recess may be the meeting itself. Be early and be ready to wait. Remember to take photos and send them to ppailaw@ppai.org

Step 9: Send your MOC a thank you note  after the meeting.

Step 10: Send ppailaw@ppai.org a short report of who you meet with and any photos that were taken.
