General Session: Is Your Inner Critic Designing Your Future? · Grand Salon · 1st Level
    · Carla Howard

You know that critical voice inside your head that runs a constant commentary about everything you do, say, or dare to dream? We've all got one. Sometimes it’s a faint whisper, while other times the voice is so loud that it drowns out all other thoughts. That is your inner critic, and it usually shows up in a very convincing way when you are about to do something big. We can become so accustom to the voice of our inner critic that we don’t recognize when it shows up. It may sound like the voice of reason, or we believe these messages help keep us safe, refrain from embarrassing ourselves (or those we love) or keep us from failing. Other times, the messages are cruel and attack us where and when we are most vulnerable. The most amazing things happen when we learn how to manage our inner critic. We feel a sense of freedom to do braver things, our creativity shows up more fully, we dream bigger and what once felt impossible becomes our future. Learn how to be braver, dream bigger and experience more joy in your life. Don’t let your inner critic create your future.

Having an accountability partner in your life offers benefits similar to a smoothie, offering a power-packing punch with added benefits. In this session, we will discuss the basics of having an accountability partner, while sharing a new perspective on how to use this partner. Learn how your accountability partner can help supercharge your life, both personally and professionally. Join us to hear proven success stories from some of your peers, and plan on writing your own.

"We don't have the budget." "I don't have the support." We can probably come up with a long list of reasons why we aren't developing ourselves or our teams, but most of them aren’t true. Training and development is key to engagement and retention for today's workforce. It's nonnegotiable, and we have to deliver. In this interactive session, you'll learn quick and easy strategies to find simple ways to teach new skills. Whether you lead a team or lead yourself, you'll bring home a new approach to training and development. (Hint: It's not about paying for training classes...it's about creating experiences.)

General Session: Innovating Within Your Competitive Advantage · Grand Salon · 1st level
    · Julie Austin

Disruption: all industries face it at some point. You may think your industry or your company is safe, but when you don’t look into the future and see what’s coming, or when you don’t constantly innovate your business, products or practices, you risk the chance of being blind-sided by your competition, the economy, technology, government regulations, customer tastes, or even the weather. Innovation has become a vague buzzword these days. But if you start by innovating what you do best, or focusing on advancing your competitive advantage, you’ll be ready to change when you’re hit with disruption. Inventor and innovator Julie Austin’s speech is a lesson about companies throughout history that were on the brink of demise because of disruption. But instead of going under, they started innovating their competitive advantage practices, pulling away from the brink and succeeding by being able to change course. Learn from Austin about the ways your organization can benefit from disruption in the future.
