Industry Leaders Challenged To Face Biggest Fears To Help Send Kids To College
Irving, Texas, (May 20, 2010) Promotional Products Education Foundation, a subsidiary of Promotional Products Association International (PPAI), has challenged the Foundation’s board of trustees to tackle their fears as part of the I’ll Do Anything challenge. The fundraiser is set to take place once per quarter with the anticipation that three board members will face their fears. The initial goal is to raise $10,000.
The first to participate is Roni Wright, MAS, PPEF board chair and vice president of The Book Company, a PPAI member-supplier company located in Del Ray Beach, Florida. Her fear: Heights.
"Anyone who knows me knows that I’m terrified of heights, but I’m willing to put it out there, to face my fear for PPEF," said Wright. "I want to get people talking about achieving goals, overcoming challenges. I want to raise awareness and contributions so that we can continue to provide college scholarships for our kids even if I have to do something wacky and completely out of character to bring attention to our mission."
Once the Foundation receives $10,000 in cumulative donations, Wright will defy gravity—and her fears—by parasailing. The event will be recorded and shared on the organization’s Facebook fanpage.
Additionally, Teki Hall, president and CEO of NewClients Promotional Marketing has vowed that now through May 26, 2010 NewClients will match every dollar donated up to $1,000.
"PPEF’s I’ll Do Anything challenge made NewClients stand up and take a look," said Hall. "If we can get to $8,000 collectively, NewClients will kick in the extra grand to make sure Roni’s flying high in just a week’s time. I hope the industry’s as inspired as we were," she added.
PPEF was founded to recognize and encourage scholastic ability and academic performance among promotional products industry employees and their children. Since its inception in 1989, PPEF has awarded approximately $742,000 in financial assistance.
