IRVING, Tex. (March 29, 2011) – Promotional Products Association International (PPAI), the not-for-profit association for the promotional products industry, is pleased to announce the keynote speaker for its North American Leadership Conference (NALC). On August 8, 2011, general manager, Annie Jie Xu from Alibaba.com will offer her thought provoking perspective on Alibaba.com’s rapid and aggressive rise to success in the industry. With more than 56.7 million registered users and 1.4 billion in revenue, Alibaba.com is a force to be reckoned with in today’s economy and competitive marketplace.

“It is our obligation and responsibility to lead the industry by challenging membership to think and explore beyond their traditional circle of influence,” said Steve Slagle, CAE, PPAI president and CEO. “Genuine innovation demands we constantly be informed and even adapt to divergent business models and expertise of those around us who are exceptional at what they do, including the competition.”

The PPAI North American Leadership Conference, a two-and-a-half-day event, kicks off on Sunday, August 7, with a networking event and reception. Xu will address the conference on August 8, immediately followed by two full days of education sessions. Registration for the conference is now open (early bird registration closes May 31) and details are available by visiting www.ppai.org/nalc.

“Attending NALC provides a wonderful opportunity to get a pulse on the industry,” said Bob Levitt, Tangerine Promotions, vice president. “Having key leaders from many markets and vantage points provides global understanding of the state of the industry.”

During Xu’s keynote address from 8:30-10 a.m., conference attendees will have the opportunity to take an inside look at Alibaba.com’s:
• Market perspective…then and now
• Scope of business
• Business model
• The future of Alibaba.com
