Canadian Anti-Spam Regulations To Restrict Email Marketing
On July 1, the Canada Anti-Spam Law (CASL) takes effect. The law applies to all "commercial electronic messages" and requires senders to have prior consent from recipients. While charities and political parties sending messages that do not sell or promote a product are exempt, transactional emails that include promotional content can run afoul of the regulations.

Crystal D Acquires Crystal Impressions
Supplier Crystal D (UPIC: CRYSTALD) has acquired Las Vegas, Nevada-based supplier Crystal Impressions (UPIC: CRYST023), a producer of sub-surface 2D and 3D laser-engraved crystal products. Crystal Impressions will relocate to the Crystal D headquarters in St. Paul, Minnesota, this month.

U.S. GDP Growth Contracts In First Quarter, But Quick Recovery Expected
The Commerce Department reports the U.S. economy shrank in the first quarter, the first time it has done so in three years. The country's gross domestic product (GDP) declined one percent during the first three months of 2014. In contrast, GDP grew 2.6 percent in the final three months of 2013.

Victorinox Takes Responsibility For Travel Gear From TRG Accessories
Victorinox (UPIC: swisarmy) has announced it is taking over full responsibility for its Travel Gear product division from licensee TRG Accessories, LLC. Additionally, Victorinox has announced the formation of a new Travel Gear business unit to facilitate expansion into international markets and to strengthen the overall Victorinox global brand umbrella.
