GatewayCDI has created a hybrid pod/merchandising departmental structure that will further emphasize our commitment to our clients, our members and our vendor partners to provide the best products from the best sources at the best pricing available in the world.
The Merchandising Buyer will directly report to the Director of Account Management / POD Leader and have the following job responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (in order of importance. Other duties may be assigned.)
*Handle all aspects of program merchandising activity for multi-million dollar accounts.
*Maintain semi-annual Merchandising plans for each client and adhere to set SKU and inventory goals.
*Source, sample and present product to client contacts during item selection.
*Work with suppliers on custom product unique to an individual client.
*Analyze programs from a financial and product trend aspect.
*Arrive business to preferred supplier network when applicable to maximize rebates and photo allowances.
*Negotiate general and project-based pricing for GatewayCDI as needed, including new vendor contracts for specific products.
*Monitor Sample Expense Budget and adhere to set goals for each program.
*Monitor program surveys – identify areas of improvement and keep shopping lists for each account.
*Assist on RFP responses.
*Be knowledgeable of industry and retail trends and apply to the sourcing on the accounts.
*Attend supplier meetings held on campus
*Any other tasks that are deemed necessary to reach the goals of the department.
*Source, sample and present product to client contacts during item selection
Have daily interaction with departmental peers, Account Managers and Inventory Management. Periodic interaction with Clients, Accounting, Sales Department and Senior Management. Daily, Weekly or Bi-weekly interaction with sales reps and merchandising buyers during their assigned period for training
*Ability to develop and effectively analyze client program.
*Ability to identify and prescribe corrective action for product to Fulfillment or Sales.
*Ability to provide direction to Account Manager concerning product and pricing recommendations.
*Strong verbal, written and presentation skills
*Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
*Strong PC knowledge and Microsoft Office skills
*Excellent working knowledge of the following programs: ESP, Direct Commerce and Hyperion.
*Ability to travel as necessary
*Excellent understanding of company goals, vendors, product lines, processes and sales philosophy
*Excellent understanding of industry
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
College Graduate with focus on Merchandising or in the Creative Field
